ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), Version 7
ATI TEAS® Practice Test
This TEAS practice test follows ATI TEAS Version 7: 170 questions (150 scored) in 3 hours 29 minutes, in four separately timed sections. Reading is 45 questions in 55 minutes, Mathematics 38 in 57, Science 50 in 60, and English and Language Usage 37 in 37. The free 25-question diagnostic covers all four and needs no account.
The free ATI TEAS diagnostic is being prepared and is not open yet. The exam facts and the content outline on this page are current.
The four sections are not equally hard on the clock. English and Language Usage gives you one minute a question. Science gives 72 seconds, Reading about 73, and Mathematics a minute and a half. A pace that is comfortable in one section is too slow for another, so each section here can be practiced on its own timer.
Science is the largest section, 44 of the 150 scored questions, and 18 of those are human anatomy and physiology. That single sub-area is worth more than all of biology and chemistry combined. If your science background is thin, anatomy and physiology is where the first hours should go.

Who takes it
Applicants to nursing and allied health programs. ATI lists no prerequisites for the exam itself, but the school you are applying to decides whether it accepts the TEAS, what score it wants, and how many attempts it allows, so check its requirements before you register. You will need a current government-issued photo ID that matches the name on your ATI account.

How to use the bank for the ATI TEAS exam
- 1
Take the diagnostic and read it by section
The 25-question diagnostic reports Reading, Mathematics, Science and English separately. Your program sets the score it wants, so check whether it also asks for a minimum in any one section.
- 2
Start with anatomy and physiology
It is the biggest single block of questions on the exam. Work it in tutor mode, where every option is explained, before moving to biology, chemistry and scientific reasoning.
- 3
Practice each section at its own pace
Use timed mode one section at a time: 37 minutes for 37 English questions feels very different from 57 minutes for 38 math questions. A calculator is built into the exam, and personal calculators are not allowed.
- 4
Take a full-length mock
All four sections back to back, 3 hours 29 minutes in total. Every retake is a new registration at full price, so it is worth knowing where you stand first.
What is in the paid ATI TEAS bank
The question bank
The ATI TEAS bank is still being written. The live count appears here when questions are published.
Every option explained
A written reason for every option, right and wrong, plus a one-line takeaway, a cited reference and the outline task the question tests.
Tutor mode and timed mode
Tutor mode shows the explanation after each question. Timed mode holds everything back until the end, at exam pace.
A readiness band, by domain
Your first-attempt results weighted the way the exam weights its domains, shown as a band rather than a pass probability: nobody outside the exam owner knows the cut score.
A study plan
Set your exam date and the plan divides the questions you have not seen across the days you have left, weakest domains first, with the mock exams placed in the back half.
ATI TEAS passes
A pass is access for a fixed number of days. You pay once; nothing renews.

How the questions are written and checked
Step 1
Written to the public outline
Each question is written by AI against one task in ATI's published content outline. Nothing is taken from the exam itself.
Step 2
Solved blind by a second model
A different model answers the question without seeing the key. If it does not reach the same answer, the question is not published.
Step 3
Audited for flaws and duplicates
A separate pass looks for item-writing flaws: two defensible answers, a giveaway in the wording, a rationale that contradicts the key. Near-duplicates are removed.
Step 4
Corrected in public
Learners can report any question. Reports and answer statistics flag questions for withdrawal or correction, and every correction is logged.
There is no human subject-matter-expert review in that process, and we do not claim one. What you get instead is a cited reference on every question, so you can check it yourself. Read the full methodology or see the corrections log.
